Where’s the best place and cheapest place

I’m needing to purchase a Top End rebuild kit for my 2012 Foreman 500 and there's so many different sites that my head is spinning

Do you need a NEW cylinder, or could you just have yours bored oversized?

It hasn’t been sunk that we know of, we just got it. The previous owner said they ran in low/out of oil. My husband says it needs new rings, he’s the mechanic and I’m the researcher.

it needs to disassembled and checked out to see just what is out of specs. it most likely needs to be bored and new piston and rings. It may be worn beyond just a hone and rings.
if it is smoking bad the top end may need a complete rebuild. just be careful on the rebuild kit you buy, lots of junk out there.

I bought mine for my 98 Foreman 450 ES from Ebay but it was a Wiseco piston top end set. It did include the piston, rings clips, but also the top end gasket kit they shipped with it. Cost was around $120 shipped, the shop that bored my cylinder recommended the Wiseco piston. I'm sure they make a kit for your engine. They had 3 different pistons for my engine, standard and two oversize choices.

Looks like for your model....

Find a local machine shop and ask them to measure the cylinder, and they'll be able to tell you how big of a piston you'll need (oversized) to bore it to match the new piston.

If you don't have anywhere local this place does good work.

I was lucky enough to ave a local shop to do this, they inspected the cylinder and said it needed a bore and told me what piston kit to order for the oversize. That's the one I found on Ebay. But yes I have heard good things about G&H.....

Thanks guys 😀 The cylinder needs bored, hopefully this week so I can get the top end rebuild ordered. Now hubby says bottom end is good except rod and rod bearings. I’m pushing for a whole bottom end rebuild! I wonder who will win since it’s my wheeler lol
