Will hotwiring ignition damage display

Greetings everyone. Some thieving teenagers cracked open my headlight case, cut the ignition key cylinder off, wrapped the four wires together, and stole the machine. When I got it back, the display no longer works but everything else works fine. I replaced the ignition key cylinder with a new one thinking this would fix the display which does not appear damaged and appears to have a good connection to the plug, but still no display. I’m wondering if putting the four wires together would have burnt out the electronics inside the display or if there is perhaps a reset procedure for it? Any help you have would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear about you being vandalized, atv's are high on the list of stolen items and welcome to the forums. It's always a possibility that damage can occur when wires are crossed. D/L the service manual in my signature below if you want and see if that helps you any while we're waiting. It would help if you would provide a little more info like year, model and cc.
