98 450 New Hub/Bearing

Hey Guys,

I recently stripped my left rear hub splines. Purchased a new hub, bearing and oil seal. After replacing them, I noticed the hub will not go all the way into place. There is roughly 3/8th of an inch of the hub still showing before the axle tube. The Axle nut goes on just enough to fit a cotter key in with enough pressure pushed onto it. What could I be doing wrong here???

It may be the "spacer" (best word I can think of) behind the hub that slides on the axle. It's beveled at one end and flat at the other, if you put it on backwards, it won't fit right.
