New to starters

I was having trouble with my bike starting. I checked all my fuses and all were good besides main fuse. I changed it with a link fuse that wasn't the same but a little similar.

Bike still didn't start and I have new stator and recitifier but my battery is still draining. All my solinoid to was clicked so I checked my solinoid and tried jumping it but no go. I read somewhere that means it's good. With my metter negative to battery and positive to solinoid it reads 12v. So that's another thing I'm guessing solinoid is good.

Check my spark plugs even though it's new but looks good to me

Then I go to my starter. I didn't even try testing it with jumpers which I should of but instead I took it apart. I'm gonna post some pictures of what the inside looks like. I don't know rats asss about them but it looked kinda funny to me. I hope this is the problem I was looking for. I know rebuild kits don't run for to much.

I can't see the brushes very well in the pic, but if you jumped the solenoid and it still didn't turn over then the starter or engine was seized.

Clean the inside of the starter out with brake fluid, and polish the end of the armature where the brushes ride and have left that black streak on the copper (steel wool or a fine wire wheel on a bench grinder)

If the brushes are gone, put a brush kit in the starter. Otherwise sometimes a good cleaning will give you another lease on life.

You think it's the starter then? I'll clean it up good this evening and see what happens. What about the small led looking pecies I know theyt shouldn't be broken like that. What do I do if the engine is seized

Those lead looking blocks are the brushes. Yeah if they're broken you need to order a brush plate. I couldn't see the brushes well enough to tell in your pics.

I just installed new brushes on my starter and nothing. Solonoid is still clicking. My battery is at 12 volts without charging it or anything but when I try to start it the battery drains but goes back up to 12v. When I let it rest. Can it be that I don't have the right main fuse. I don't have the OEM Honda fuse but I have similarone that is 30a and it didn't fit right so I bent it a bit. What's the problem. ?

first thing to do is make sure battery is fully charged and it is good. to me it sounds like battery is weak, also check all battery connections. a fuse does not have to Honda brand, any fuse the right size is good.
You can test the starter while it is off with any 12 volt battery to see if it spins.

If that's 12.0 volts, your battery is dead. Need to see 12.5-12.7v.

I put cables on my starter and hook it up to my truck battery. It spun like new but the starter wasn't the problem. The battery was weak I took it to advance Auto parts and got it back today. Put it on with a new Honda main fuse and bike started right up. I'm still cerioius though about how my bike ran before the starting problem with a starter that had broken brushes with that graphite in it all over. That is the original starter that had never been messed with according to my knowledge but that just lets me know that bike was built the last. I am happy I did get the new brushes in. Just the brush plate was 20 bucks witch isn't that bad from a local dealer instead of waiting for it to ship.
