rear end knocking

I recently changed rear wheel and diff bearings and seals and Iv had axle nuts loose before but after new parts I had noise like knocking or metal against metal sound. I checked and right axle nut was loose so I tighted nut and I dont know if I'm crazy still hearing the knocking or not. Has anyone had this problem with there bike. Is Apprciate the torque specs for axle nuts

Rear axle nuts (at hub) are 101 ft/lb. Did you use new nuts on the axle tube(s) ? They are self locking nuts and SM says not to reuse. Do you have the service manual?

I used old nuts. I didn't know they were self locking. I used same nuts because all I bought was rear bearings and seals only. I have a 98 all time 4wd so I'll have to jacks up the whole bike might do that tomorrow. To be it sounds like it was coming from diff but I can't think of anything that would be knocking inside diff besides blown gears

First pic is my left rear. To me it looks like it's tighter than right side but I'll tighten it up to spec.

Is the stop installed on the left side of the axle? Its removable so the axle can slide out and without it the hub has nothing to seat to.

OK so my hubs were placed right. My bearing was blown again and the outer edge of my axle tube was grinded down from friction withh hub but I still don't know anything about the stop bearing. When to my local Honda dealer to look but it has to be order. I replaced left bearing and seal again so I'll see what happens next. Just wanna know if bearing and seal were blown from not having stop which I'm not sure if I have or not or what else. The first time my bearing blew I didn't hear any knocking or grinding before I changed.
