could be battery in good shape should read 13.0v also im not sure if it matters or not but i dont charge the battery with them still hooked up to the machine i know some of the 450's it would mess...

cable is prob getting old along with the grease around the cam or your shoes are worn out and the cam is turning to far and getting stuck

check your gas cap vent should be free flowing.
i would also give the carb a good cleaning change the spark plug and make sure the air filter is clean

correct plug gap? new fuel line? clean the petcock? maybe don't use the choke when its above 50 out? will it start better if you use the primer on the side of the carb? what is you pilot screw set at?
