I'm looking at a older, probably 86 or 87, 350 and was wondering where some of the common problems were with them. The guy says it will run, but hasn't had it running in a while. He don't know if the 4x4 works or not. Clutch seems to not be working. And it seems like the decompression lever is not working. Moves very easily inside the head. I've never had any experience with these 4 wheelers. What kind of problems should I look for? Is it common for the 4x4 not to work? Is it a full time 4x4?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Welcome to the forum. The most common things on those machines are the fuel pump, wheel bearings and brakes, just the normal stuff. It is a full time 4x4 so if it doesn't work it could be a broken CV joint or drive shaft, neither are very common to break. Does the machine run??? Just asking for the clutch part of it. The decompression lever will move some before it presses down on the exhaust valve when trying to kick start it.

#1 problem on those was the electric fuel pump. The fuel tank is under the seat.
It's full time 4x4 so the only way the 4x4 wouldn't work is if there was something or broken in the transfer case or front diff. Or if the drive shaft had been taken out.
