Default 86 Fourtrax 4x4 disc brake install

Just thought I would post a picture or two for those who might be iterested in doing this upgrade.
The kit is from Superatv.

I might swap the calipars to the front to help with brakeline clearance. If you do this just make sure you have the bleeder valve to the top.
The only headache I have ran into is from the atvs front brakes not working for years. The lines have rusted on the inside and no one has this model brake lines any more (1986-1989) I am having to adapt parts off of different years and bend my own lines.

PS. you must use a 12" rim to clear the calipars.

As for the atv?

It's great, I posted a video of some mud pit riding in the video gallery. I was having problems with the carb, but when I swapped it over to a pulse drive fuel pump all my carb problems went away! The fuel pump was pushing too much pressure and not enough volume.

Here is a picture of the pulse drive fuel pump. (some call them vacuum driven, but they can be driven off vacuum or crank case pressure also) I tapped one of the rocker inspection covers to get the pulse pressure. Please excuse the lack of zip ties! I just have it roughly plumbed until I made sure it was working properly. I will have all the hoses zip tied out of the way and hidden.

PS. I was clocked doing 35mph with the carb acting up. I hope to better that this weekend.

What is your fuel pressure on that style pump? did you have to regulator?

No regulator, they only produce volume of 14lph and techincally incapable of producing more fuel pressure than the engine can use. Being that it is powered by the crankcase pressure or the vacuum pressure for the given engine rpm.

The fuel pump I am using is sold for jet skies but I'm sure a smaller pump off a Arctic Cat would work. (Just more exspensive) here is a link to the pump I purchased.

Mikuni Single Fuel Pump - DennisKirk.com=

Hint: Go ahead and pull the line going into the carb (out of the pump) and wrap your lips around it! Give it a good slirp and get some of that nasty pump gas in your mouth! LoL Then try to crank it. That's to purge the air out of the pump to get the system going.

Went for a long ride today and the brakes broke in nicely. I managed to throw myself into the handle bars one or two times. Disc brakes are the only way to go if you ride in a lot of mud.
