Default newbie here

Hi everyone; been running honda atv's for 15yrs now; love 'em until something major happens....today my transmission decided not to shift in or out of gear; my machine is a 2003 Foreman 450S; yes the manual shift. I have only 360hrs on the meter and 4600kms on the mileage. Past 4 years it has just been used around my yard plowing snow and other yard chores...as for my problem today i think a shift rod is bent and it finally got stuck enough that i can't get to any other gear. Do i have to pull the engine and split the cases like i do with my old honda cb650 motorcycle or can i repair it in the frame? I will get some photos up of my machine soon.

2.#30 (the bolt loosens up)
3.#13 gearshift plate (it cracks )
no you dont have to pull the motor , you just have to stand it up on the rear rack
and pull the front cover off ....its only a 1 1/2 to 2 hour job

ok; a few hours; i never adjusted the clutch since i bought it new; it was working great until this happened. But the past few years it would take a fit and shift really hard into Gears #1 and 2; hindsight 20/20; perhaps i should have paid more attention to my maintenance and this may have been avoided; my own fault for neglecting my machine due to extended periods of sitting idle....hopefully i can salvage it without having any real problems.

its not that hard to do and just basic hand tools is all you need !
but if you have to jump on the shifter to get it in gear its probly #30 (because the clutch is out of adjustment)
here is a free PDF manual if you need it

definitely out of adjustment as i never had a wrench on it; school for me this is; i spend more time working on my motorcycle than i ever had to my Foreman....adjusting the clutch first then trying to get it into neutral so i can start it would be out of the question as the pull cord won't let it start unless it's in neutral; is there a way to by-pass the start safety so i can use the pull cord? in case i need to load it onto a trailer to take to my friend who has is own "cash only" shop as he is a licensed small engine mechanic if i can't fix it myself,,,
