Newbie from Illinois - Honda Foreman Forums : Rubicon, Rincon, Rancher and Recon Forum

Hello Everyone, I just signed up like 10 minutes ago and love this site!
I just picked up a 2004 500 Rubicon (Green) that was used and abused!
I bought it from the original owner who had teenage stepsons that really beat this thing up and I believe never ever gave the thing a bath! lol
From what I can tell it looks like they used this thing to mow over trees cause it pretty much needs everthing up front replaced like both lower headlightsand buckets,front bumper,front rack and the plastic nose piece that covers the front bumper.
My front fender looks good with no cracks but is missing the mounting bosses for the headlight buckets so I will probably need those too!
But its a Honda and even tho it has 7500 miles and close to 900 Hours this thing still runs like a watch and doesnt seem to have any tranny issues ive been reading about on this site.
While I have owned just about every Honda ATV made this is my first 4x4 Honda and the next closest thing was my 2000 350 Rancher that was 2 wheel drive that kinda sucked at plowing snow.

Ive been reading this site and see that nobody makes an aftermarket front bumper so Im thinking im gonna make my own and incorporate my winch into it.

I cant remember the members name but he did an excellent job on his bumper and im a decent welder and may just copy it ? lol

Welcome aboard! Making your onw bumper is better than buying one as far as im concerned. Good luck with youre build.

Welcome to the forum. Building your own bumper is the way to go if you have the time and tools. The sky is the limit then.

I just got back from the local Farm & Fleet where i picked up some 1x1 inch square tubing and gonna get started on the bumper.
I got both headlights and buckets coming that I bought off e-bay for 29.95 so im hoping to be back together soon.

JWJR, Im in Rockford which is right at the Illinois Wisconsin border.
I do have a buddy who is temporarily residing in Vandalia and he will be there another 3 more years too!lol He likes to drink and drive.

I would love to post some before pics of the carnage but I never took any and right now its all stripped down but ill post pics when I get it back together.
I also went with a buddy today to look at and buy a 2001 450es that was really clean and only 1400 miles for 2600.
This bike is sweet and I was kinda jealous until my buddy let me take it for a spin when we got back to his house.
Ill just say that even tho my Ruby is not as purdy as my buddies new bike Im glad I ended up with it over a 450es ! I mean its kinda like comparing a beat up Cadillac to a low mile caprice classic!!!

. and it is quit possable that my dad has talked to your friend as he is a Sargent at the state correctional center.
