3or4wheels

Hi guys,
We have a 2005 250 Recon which has very few miles and doesn't get too much use.About a month ago when I went to use it I found the battery was dead which I thought was unusual as it had been riden not so long ago.I removed it,charged it well and suspected that maybe the charging circuit was at fault.After refitting the battery I found initially that the speedo display was blank and would only recover when the rpm's rose,again suspecting the charging circuit.After checking varios connectors,disconnecting and reconnecting,the display is now totaly dead and after a good run with all lights a blaze the battery seems to be charging.I've no mulimeter with me,here were we keep the Recon so I can't check the charging coil or the rectifier.I've checked the connector from the display but now I must admit I'm at a bit of an dead end.HELP!!!
