Default springs & shocks

Just bought an 04 recon tm. Everything on it is in good shape except for the homemade camo paint job, and rear spring/shock seems very weak.

I am 160#, and when I sit on rear rack body drops to within 2" of fenders hitting tires. I wanted to replace spring (s) with highlifters, and when I called today they stated that they only make a lift kit but are sold out right now. I did ask if any other model springs would work and was told no. I need to increase load carrying and a lift kit would be great. I have progressive shock replacement info already, just checking for different options or find other vendors.

What have others installed? I have a big friend who wants to use when we go scouting/field work, just don't think it will survive his 300#.

Any help would be great, Phil

How bad was the cost rich? My bike with steering dampener set me 2k. nice improvement but i ride, not race.

I feel handling, and stopping are the most important parts of any machine. Make it faster but can't ride it or stop it safely? Phil

sorry man i bought the foreman with the progressive shocks on it (one of the reasons i bought it )
but IMO its not worth putting the $600 to $800 in shocks on a 7yr old 4wheeler.but thats just me!

why don't you just make a spacer to put in between the spring and where the spring sits. i think rich bought his bike with those shocks already on it.

other models like rancher, 300 450 might work even a brute force shock

Put on highlifter lift kit and still want more! Did springs on rubi and may see if will fit rear shock on recon. Have a set of 25's that won't fit even with spacers. Would have to remove too much plastic for me.
Bought a set yami 300 12" wheels/23" tires that fit without hitting. 1 1/2" spacers in front to even wheels with rear. I will be checking about other shock-spring setup's. Thanks for info.
Anyone put 25's on recon? Appears 24's might fit... Phil
