Default 97 Recon Jetting

I have been having the worst time jetting. My 97 recon is snorkled with a dynojet kit and a K and N filter and i just cant seem to get it to idle correctly and run well. I have moved up in pilot jets and main jets and also moved the needle slide and it seems to run to lean. I have a 100 main jet in it now. the needle is 4th from top and the pilot jet is a 40. Idle surges up and then when i adjust idle screw a quarter of a turn at a time, it falls down and then stalls. i have to use the throttle to get it started and if i drive it, it has great takeoff power but once i get it up to about midrange RPM's, the power feels like it flattens out like it is lean and i will eventually shift. and after maybe 10 mins of riding the motor feels really hot. Can anyone give me some information on what could be the problem. Do i need to move up more jet sizes? what could be causing irregular idle?
Thanks!

With the motor getting hot after riding it sounds like a lean condition. And with the irregular idle, I'd be looking for a vacuum leak somewhere.

Thats what i thought but i took carb cleaner and sprayed everywhere and I cant seem to locate a vacuum leak. How big of jets should i move up? what jet should i move up? slow jet or main jet?

I'd pull the carb and go over it looking for a cracked base plate or something under the base plate. Is there any leakage of gasoline when it sits a while like around the throttle shaft ?
You're sure the filter isn't plugged, right ? Disconnect it and see if that makes any difference in the idle quality.

Are you sure you are getting enough air through your snorkel? What diameter/length etc etc.

...just a thought.

Ok i will have to try removing my filter tomorrow. Im almost positive its enough air because to get it running well on stock jet i would put tape over half the whole and it would run better. i just finally got around to rejetting it and it seems to be more of a pain then i thought. I believe its an inch or inch and a half pipe running about 3 feet long.
