Default Cold blooded

Anyone have any tips starting a Recon when the weather gets cold ? Mine is a bear to get going in this weather and it's even in the garage. My procedure has been to turn on the gas, pull the choke, give the throttle 1 push and then hit the starter. Sometimes it starts, and sometimes it doesn't. Do I need a different plug for cold weathe usage ?

have you ever tried the primer on the carb?? if you gave it like 4-5 pumps and then pulled the choke it should start right up

Sorry to go off topic on you, but why do you turn the gas off when you park it? I've always just left mine turned on, but never thought about it.

sometimes the needle valve in the carb can stay open if ur float is stuck or u have dirt in the needle and seat. if that happens it can flood the carb right into the airbox or into the cylinder and flush ur cylinder walls. some ppl do, some ppl dont. i always do

I've always turned off the gas valve on anything that has a valve. I went ahead and installed valves on my roto tiller and Simplicity lawn tractor too. I just don't want something sticking in the needle valve and have gasoline running all over the garage especially with a open flame heater in the garage.

And I took the advise of hondabigredtrx300 and now I don't touch the throttle and that seems to work much better starting the Recon.
