Default 04 Recon ES Idle Problems

When I start up my Recon it fires right up.. But if I dont keep giving it a little throttle it will die..

Also, if im riding and then wanna stop. My Recon will die if i dont do the same. So, Practically if i dont keep the throttle going my quad will die.

Any ideas?

Might just need the idle set up some or the choke could be stuck in the pulled position.

I've messed with the idle screw up and down and it still doesnt make a difference. And the choke is fine. Ive already made sure it was okay.

Yes im pretty positive. I looked at the Honda manual that came with the quad to locate the right screw.

to the forum.
How old is the fuel? Perhaps the carb needs a good cleaning.

Well, I just bought it off a friend whose had it in the garage for a long time. When I bought it, had about a half tank. I filled it up with new fuel on top of the old, probably a dumb move on my part but it runs great and all, but when you let off the throttle it goes down. The carb was my next guess also.

Yeah, sounds like the carb needs cleaning.

Yeah, I would make sure the air filter is OK and drain the fuel and clean the carb. Or maybe just some marine formula Stabil to try and get the water out that way, if there isn't too much. Good luck.

The air filter is in perfect shape, clean as can be. Time to clean the carb I suppose.
