Angry 2002 Honda recon es transmission sticking

I have a 02 recon es. The battery died last year and i just left it dead all winter and went out to get it running here recently. When it died last year it was also throwing and angle sensor code. I got it into neutral with the emergency shifter and put it up. Got a brand new batter fully charged and the bike cranked right up and purred like a kitten but was still throwing the angle sensor code. I know there was a recall on these but its out of date and im going to replace it as soon as i can get it ordered. My problem is that when i tried to shift the bike with the emergency shifter when i cranked it here recently it wouldnt budge in any direction. Tried shifting it into first and reverse and cant get either one to work. Im wondering if its possible to lock one of these transmissions up from sitting for one year (i wouldnt think so) and any information to get it unstuck or if anyone knows the problem thats causing it not to shift with the emergency shifter. I am very mechanically enclined and have worked on 4 wheelers for a long time but i dont want to have to break into the crankcase of this es if possible. Any and all infor about any of my problems is well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't have any idea but I hope some one on here could help. Have you adjusted the clutch?

Are you saying the emergency, manual shifter worked and then it sat all winter and now the emergency, manual shifter won't move either way? Maybe your shift motor seized up over the winter. When you turn the manual shifter, it has to turn the gears and the shift motor too, since it's all connected together.

You might want to jack the rear wheels off the ground and try spinning the rear tires and see if it's stuck. Maybe spin the wheels manually for a while and get the lube onto the gears and such. Then try the emergency shift lever.

Recon problem for the expers..

I had the same problem had to pull the front clutch cover and tighten a bolt and replace some broken shift reduction gear s(tooth broke and jammed it all up)

Cause: PO broke the angle sensor wire, drove with back up shifter too hard and broke the gears parked it in the sun for awhile then I bought it

Default Thanks for the answers

Appreciate all the help that y'all have given even though this seems to be a very rare case. Im just now getting enough time to tear into the bike. i didnt use it very often before because of the fact its a 250 and kinda small for me. 350 rancherboy sounds like he had the same exact problem as im having so ive got the manual and time so i guess im going to tear into the transmission and see if i can get this thing going or not.
