Default Winch help

I have a cheap winch that came on my Recon that was bought from Harbor Freight. I am not sure if it is any good and I dont not have to remote for it. So is there any way I can run power to it and use a toggle switch to make sure it works before I spend the money on a new mandle bar mounted switch?

Thanks for the help

Default winch help

When I was in this situation...you can just hook up the two wire leads from the winch to a 12v battery. (I used a car battery) When you touch them to the posts...it should turn...if you flip the wires and hook them up opposite...it should go the other direction. hope this helps.

a cheap 5 dollar toggle from the hardware store isn't going to work for the winch. you need a heavy duty switch that will take the amperage. just an fyi

Thanks for the info. I just want to make sure it works before spending the money on a new winch switch.

Just hook the cables coming out of the winch to the battery and it should go in/out (depending on which way they are hooked up) just like Mr.Big said.

Go over to harbourfreight and tell them you lost the remote they're universal.
