I had a HMF pipe on my 450 foreman and it was pretty loud (to loud for me). But remember loud doesn't mean more power.

the stock exhaust on my recon is loud but it is a 2000 model

just get a hmf w/jet kit and be done with it! hmf will give you the best sound and best performance increase. hmf's(without the spark arrestor) are only loud when you're banging on the throttle. at cruise, it's quiet. also heard good news about the big gun evo series exhaust. can't speak for them, but i've heard good. get the exhaust of your choice, jet accordingly, and you'll have no probs. just don't resort to cutting out the guts of your stock muffler.
