I bought a 97 recon for my girlfriend to ride with me on the foreman. I bought a new carb air box and seat all these were missing. I have it running snd and riding. But you have to play with the choke sometimes and it won't idle. If it idles itll run then you hear a pop and itll start to kill itself. Also make alot of what i understand is "lean pop" when you let off. My foreman does the same thing but only at higher rpms. This does it at even low rpm. I think it also has bad gas. So im going to drain the tank tonight. Pull carb and check cleanliness and put it all back with fresh gas. Anything else?
try running NON ethanol fuel, it can help a bunch on backfiring if all things are GOOD and right and still does it.
MOST ALL super grade fuel is ethanol free too, in case your local stations don't carry PURE non ethanol regular fuel..
how the plug look?? have you replaced that since you drained the tank and added FRESH fuel??
if NOT I would do that too, plugs are rather cheap, and ???
Raise the throttle needle one groove and take the pilot screw out another 1/2 turn. That should richen it up enough to give an idea if it helped or not. Just fine tune it from there if it does.
I actually havent done the plug yet.im gonna pull the carb tomorrow and make sure its clean. If not ill try the adjust pilot. Thanks for the help! Im actually enjoying this thing more than my foreman haha
