Default rincon or foreman/rubicon????

Let me give you some background. I use an atv to Haul dogs around while bear hunting in a rig box bolted to the back rack. I have done this for about 5 years on an 02 rubicon with no problems what so ever. the tranny finally went out in the Rubi( over 11000 miles.) I am in the market to get a newer Bike to do this. My question is Would a rincon, with the IRS be a good choice for this application? or should I find a rubicon again. I have my eyes on an 05 Rincon for 3500. how do the rincon trannys hold up? Any input would be appriciated. thanks. also I carry 2 dogs with a total weight of the dogs and rig box is approx. 100 lbs.

I would opt for another rubicon, the Rincons have a really soft suspension. I guess you could get stiffer springs, the rincon wouldn't be my choice for hanging 100lbs off the back.

the only thing i have herd that people dont like about the rincon tranny is that 1st gear is not low anuff .(when fitted with larger tires)
i think both will do the job that you ask of them without any problems

You can read about the Rincons tranny til you fall asleep online. Yes its a 3spd, and it'd be better if it were a 5, but its not. I love my Rincon as most do. I often ride with a passenger (over 100lbs) and it handles us just fine. The Rincon is a trail bike, not a work horse, not a race quad. It does everything well, nothing perfect. Its a nice comfortable, fast ride. JMO anyway.

It sounds like you do a lot of low speed, non aggressive riding, while hauling a bit a weight. The Rubicon is the best choice. The Rincon is a trail quad, it works best while riding to have fun. The transmission is geared higher for sporty trail riding, and not putting around at low speeds and hauling. The IRS is on the soft side so it has a tendency to squat with weight, and just hitting throttle. It doesn't even come with a trailer hitch.

Are the newer rubicon trannys holding up? I think I heard they redid them after 05 or something like that. I love the low range on the rubi hauling the dogs and having to go down these steep hills.Looking into maybe getting an 05 or 06 ( or newer)

I think the Rubicon or Foreman would suit your needs best. If you like having power and being able to shift gears all the time buy the Foreman. If you don't like power and don't like shifting all the time, buy the Rubicon.

BTW. The Rubicon has MORE POWER than the foreman. check out the HP ratings. Its also 499cc unlike the 475cc the foreman has.
