Who said that? Top speed depends on more then just peak HP. Have to look at the powerband, if the bikes power curve shoots up from idle to mid range then falls on it's face then your top speed won't be good. Also depends on gearing, if it's geared to low it will rev out before it hits max speed. But if it's geared to high it wont have the power to hit top speed either. Then you have to take into account the tires that are on it. Aftermarket tires can kill your top speed.

I don't know what is the fastest of the three to be honest. But it's like comparing turtles anyway LOL none of them are very fast.

no. they are pretty much bulletproof since the 2005 models. if I give up a couple horsepower to have this tranny I dont personally mind at all. as mac said... theyre all turtles and Im more interested in the riding characteristics than speed on my rubi.

Thats pretty much it. With the weight of those machines especially the foreman and the rubi. If I were a bettin kinda guy I would definitely put money down on a recon eating up a rubicon all day on a 100' stretch. Power to weight ration on the bigger honda ATVs is rather poor, thats why the little much more nimble recon is a quick sumbitch.

My Recon was pretty quick for a 229cc and just over 400lbs. Top speed was about 45mph, and just a tad slower on top end than my friends Rancher 350 4x4, and I always got him out of the hole. The same for my others friends and their machines, a few Polaris Trailblazers, an Explorer 250 4x4, and the Magnum 325 4x4. My only real competition was the Yamahas, the Beartracker 250 and his older brother in the Timberwolf 250. The Recon smoked'em ll in the trails though.

Yep, I believe it. My recon would zip past the rubi all day long..... well im sure 27s and about 150lbs of added steel to it doesnt help all that much.

Almost 7 hp more. I don't believe the auto tranny eats up over 20% of its power.

7hp? Rounding up from 5.1hp? (2012 #'s) I'm in search of a dyno chart from a few years back, so that's all for now...

Alright I can't find the chart but I have numbers.

Does anyone here remember TEXmudder on the HL forum? This is from his rubicon when he installed a BBK and cam.

Stock 2002 Rubicon.

HP 20.9
TQ 36 lb/ft

AT THE WHEELS.

33.4hp at the motor

That's about a 37% power loss correct?

Stock 2012 Foreman your looking at around 22-23hp and about the same torque at the wheels. Power at the motor is 28.3hp. So that's only a 19-23% loss in power.

Any other arguments?
