So the oneway is only used for engine braking? It doesn't have anything to do with the drive of the bike?

The torque converter itself is used for the drive part just like on a vehicle. You'll notice when trying to use engine braking it works best with a little throttle anyways (even with a good one-way). That is all that one-way is used for though, engine braking.
