Default Looking for opinions

Hey everyone!

Sorry if this is the wrong spot for A question like this, I'm new here and this seemed like the best forum.

I'm in the market for a new 2012 wheeler, but I'm not sure which way to go. I'm looking for mostly play, rough trail riding, and very little work. I'm having trouble deciding between the rincon and rancher. I love everything the rincon offers, but I'm not sure I need a 700 just for trail riding. Then again, it couldn't hurt, right?

I don't care about power steering, but the IRS sounds like it would make riding the trails much nicer. I currently use a very old wheeler that is only a 300 with 4x4, and it struggles slightly on some of my most common trails, but i always make it through.

If any of you were in my position, looking for mostly play, which would you go with?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help!

If you can justify the extra money. I would go rincon for a trail bike.

Imo, i wouldn't overlook the powersteering also, a cheap feature that can't be added later. Slow going rough trails is where it would shine.

Rincon if you can afford it. Rancher AT if you cannot.

Only thing I can add, are they the same size physically? My only real experience is with my 03 450ES. I would think the rincon would be wider/longer, think about how/where you ride, also how big/little you are if that 300 is getting the job done with a little struggle the bigger quad might be a bit overkill. Just food for thought

I read a rumor that the rincon has trouble spinning the tires in mud on another forum because of the way it's designed. It didn't make much sense to me. Anyone out there that currently has a rincon, can you confirm or deny this?

I make the answer easier, let's say I'm not modding it at all. Taking it out stock.

Thanks!

Is your heart set on a Honda? I'm dumping my two Honda Rubicons because they're not sporty enough for me. Don't get me wrong, they're great quality machines and I doubt they'd ever let me down, but I'm sick of getting smoked by my all of my friends with their big bore machines. I'm gonna be getting two new 2012 Kawasaki Brute Force 750's. For the price, I would go else where and get more features for your money....

When Honda first introduced the Rincon they marketed it as the "SUV" of ATVs.

It was intended for "fast" trail ridng like 30 mph rather than in deep mud and technical type terrain; not that it can't do a little of everything.

I would like to have a new Rincon and a new Rubicon.

Yes the rincon have only 3 gears and the first one is very high so yes I've seen a rincon get pulled out of a hole cause he couldn't turn his 28" swamplights and that is terrible. But for the trail the rincon is a great machine. But if you ride with any other brand bikes you WILL be the slowest one.
