Wingman, what I did was screw the plunger on just far enough to allow the 3 prong clip to seat deep enough so that the retaining clip would properly fit. I cannot remember if it was just one turn or not but I don't think it was 2 turns(must be full turns or the 3 prong just won't line up).
Honestly, if a person really had to, I see no reason why the housing itself couldn't be shaved down 1/32" at a time and then install it back on the machine. All it is going to do is move the plunger 1/32" closer to the tensioner inside the motor. One could always add a washer under the 2 mount screws the same thickness that was shaved off. ![]() I can't see how the tensioner lifter could ever be "bad" if the plunger is fluent when it turns. Broke spring? Sure but probably not. I think alot of people buy new lift tensioners when they don't need to. hall, that is most of the price of a upgrade for a better tire. I also can't see paying $65 for a new lifter/tension when it can be shaved down. Afterall, the part would be thrown out anyway, right? |
