Default cv boots

Just got this rincon boots were in good shape it had snowed so of course it is time to go out and play the next mourning fired it up and moved it and bam tore a boot on the ice packed around the shaft. What is a good tuff brand of boot to replace with and do the axles just pop out of the diff like a car axle with a pry bar.

This is basically how i changed the left outer boot on my 06 rubicon. Cut the old clamps and boot off. I used a modified small orange pylon (cone), I didnt have the fancy tongs and i had to grease the cone well and force it over by hand(turn the boot inside out before slipping it on cone). It is a messy job but you dont need to remove the axle from the bike, just make sure the bike is jacked up sturdy because it takes alot of force to slide the boot over. I used FAST-BOOT replacement boot from royal distributing. the kit comes with boot,grease,2 clamps, and the tool to tighten clamps for $20.

The shafts do pop out like a FWD car, if you decide to repair that way. It's a simple repair, although if I recall correctly, to replace the outside boot, the inner joint must also come apart. I have always had the best luck with the stock boots/clamps and aftermarket guards such as Ricochet's.

your right ironhand. you do have a round half moon type clip that is on the inside of the inner cv.
i suggest buying the boot kit from honda. between 50 and 100 pending on the dealership, the kit includes the grease, inner+outer boot, and the clips. save the good boot you pull off as a spare. its a easy fix, but a greasy messy one at that. and do what ironhand said and throw the stock covers in the junk heap.

when i pull them i start at the: tire, then the axle nut, pull the brake caliper and rotor guard, undo the bottom shock mount, undo the bottom a-arm bolts that hook it to the frame. then wiggle the axle outta the spindle housing and give it a tug. it pops out without any tools.
