Okay,, I think your mileage is probably right. I took my 05 out again and listened to it and to my surprise it makes the noise your are probably talking about, but I did not notice it because it was so much quitter than before I replaced the timing chain. It sounds like a loud deep tone rattle while under load at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle up in the front of the engine. From my experience of motorcycle and cars, dang if it doesn't sound like pre-ignition knock. That may be what is eating the cam chains in the rincons. I bet the 08's with fuel injection have a knock sensor. I am running low octane of 87. One of the other guys said he started running high octane the noise went away. I am going to try high octane and see what it does. Will let you know in a couple of days..

Ok let me know how the high octane does. I am running 89 in my bikes just because that is what I put in my vehicles and I just fill the jugs up while filling them. I don't know if it is the same noise or not mine isn't a knock but more of a light grinding/clicking sound.

Here is a clip of mine with a warm engine that you can hear the clicking/grinding sound besides the sewing machine sound while I am holding the throttle steady. I think I am just going to consider it normal as long as it doesn't get worse.

Well I got the 2008 Rincon out and took it for a spin and stopped afterwards and listened for the same light on and off grinding/noise in it while riding slow then in neutral giving a little steady throttle and I hear the same noise in my EFI bike that I do in my 2005 Rincon. It is just a lot harder to hear on the 680 because it is just a louder bike than the 2005 Rincon. I don't quiet understand why both are stock and the carbed is a quieter but it is. The noise in the 2005 could be louder than on the 680 but it is also easier to hear. I don't like the sound of it but unless it gets worse I do believe it is a normal noise on these bikes. I don't know if they all make this noise but my 2 Rincons do and I don't think both of the bikes would have the same problem with just 250 and 375 miles on them!
