I have 27's XTR's on my Rubicon which is also stock with no lift and I weigh in at about 185 and I can turn them with no problems. Had a problem with them rubbing the support brackets on the front when I turned hard but took the tires off this past weekend and bent the brackets in a little and now the problem is fixed. But for turning the tires I have not had any trouble at all turning them even in some pretty thick stuff.

yeah that's true. I was thinking mainly of engines...500cc vs 675cc. But you're right, that low gear does make a difference as far as torque.
