How MUCH OIL????????

I have a 2008 Honda Rincon. The book calls for 2.99 qts at oil change. Some of the guys at 2 local Honda shops say it could take as much as 4- 41/2 qts. How can this be??? How should it be checked hot, cold???? Do not want anything to go wrong. Thank You for info.

here is a thought outta the blue...why not add the 2.5 qts then check the dipstick?????...it will not change much hot or cold....but as per your owners manual....which I am sure you have read.... do not screw the dipstick in when checking oil...

add if no oil on the dipstick....

sorry....but what a lame question.

The only way its going to take more then 3qts is if you dismantle the transmission. The torque converter holds a good bit of oil. Just buy 3qts, you'll be fine. I don't know what the book says, but fill it to just over the upper mark on the dipstick.

Depending on how completly it drains on average they take 3 to 3.5 qts. to get it right over the full mark.
