Default Testing Front Final Clutch on the bench!!!!Help

I have dropped the front differential out and have removed the front final clutch. Is there anyway to test this, I am guessing since it is a solenoid and the voltage coming from the plug to it is 12volts, I can apply 12 volts to it. I hear a faint click when I do this however, the pinion gear will still not turn vial the propeller shaft..Please help

Its a 2005, i have the service manual, but there is nothing i saw about actually tearing apart and testing the electric part of the ffc just the pinion gear and the bearings, maybe I am missing something ...Hate to spend 400 on this part......
