Default limping

my friend bought a 03 rubi. we went riding. every now and then after start up when throtled it just limped. dont no how but i could fix it buy removing air filter and putting it back. any thoughts? im going to clean the carb but just bc dont know what else to do. it has sit for years. so cant hurt anything.

yea i think a good carb cleaning will do the trick there, maybe a new filter as well

if it has sat for years...carb needs to be removed, and thoroughly cleaned.

I would be ton the carb and possibly bad gas.
Drain the tank, pull the carb and clean.
Be sure to adjust the throttle cable and re-initialize the computer when you are done.

Changing the air filter was just a fluke fix, IMHO..Everytime you turn the key on and off resets the computer I would start with making sure the right brake leaver is all the way seated (returned) theres a switch in there to make sure you dont take off in gear at full throttle while in gear.. If that doesnt fix it i would make sure every electrical connection was clean and had dielectric grease on it (I'd start at the angle sensor) but they all need to be greased if you like the mud n water..
