I have no exhaust snorkel is it mandatory? It's died on me before in deep water but the factory snorkel was above the water so I'm guessing the water in the exhaust shut it off?

Might I add I didn't snork it to go deep all the time since the bike is basically brand new, but I wanted the extra assurance that if I go deeper than I'm expecting I will be dry. Plus it looks cool

As long as its running water wont get into the exhaust. It sounds like you got water in the carb vent lines. Their factory location will make it cut off about seat deep.

I've tried different air filter oils and Klotz seemed to work the best for repelling water. I never worried much when the happened because of that. I get the machine out as fast as possible and pull the drain on the air box. They make an outer wear type of thing you can put on the end of the snorkel to slow down the water also.

exhaust snorkels aren't mandatory...but, if you don't have your exhaust snorkeled, always idle your machine up before entering water, or never let off the throttle once you're in water. i don't think foremans have enough exhaust flow to keep water out at idle. and chances are, that it quit running because water bypassed the check valve on the overflow drain tube.
