update, all good now, basically the positive screw had come loose on the side and the wiring attached to it was basically bouncing around inside sometimes grounding itself, I had to take the connection cap off and use some rubber washers to keep it from grounding and sandwich it back into the screw bolt. I must admit the KFI is very well built, gears, housing, lip so you cant spool off, etc... , but these 2 connections certainly could have been done much better.

I'd be interested to see someone post a pic of this inside cap where the wiring is located to compare different brands, ie WARN, etc.... I should have taken a picture of mine, but now too lazy to go back and unbolt it all again for the 4th time
