Default Fan kicked in While Plowing

Hi Guys - I was out plowing in 8degF weather and after 15min the fan came on. It was after I cruised over to the neighbors 0.5mile away and did her driveway. Seems odd the fan would kick in at a low outside temp. THE RADIATOR WAS CLEAR OF SNOW...I know you were thinking that.

Is it just because the plow blocks some of the airflow? It looks to me that the radiator is up high enough that this wouldn't be an issue. Any easy way to test that the water pump is working? The reservoir is full.

you're in low, pushing a load at a slow speed with very little air circulation

its going to come on

if the water pump wasnt working it would boil over in 5 mins of running ...yes even in 8 degree weather .
iwhen your working the motor plowing the motor creates a lot more heat resulting in the fan comming on more often ....
i dont think that there is anything wrong with your rubi

I was the sled dog bringing the kids back up the hill after they sled down. I only noticed the fan come on just once.

Your situation doesn't really seem unusual though.

its good for the fan to come on. means everything is working properly. if the fan didn't come on you'd over heat.

my 2012 will have the fan come on a few times while i'm plowing snow

I gotta get a plow, I'm getting to lazy to shovel, although we just got our second storm of the year. It was fun riding snow today, even the little ones kfx 50 did good.

I think I posted this same question back when I had my Rubicon and was told basically the same thing and that it was normal.
Just be glad it comes on cause if it didint, then you would have something to worry about!
