Default cam & big bore

Would anyone recommend installing a different cam or a big bore kit if they were going to redue the top end of a Rubicon?

I have read that's there's not a huge gain but would you do it??

And if you have were you happy with the results??

I would not. Cam yes, big bore, no. Is there any stock bore high compression pistons available? That would be a good option. I like the Hotcam's. The HL BBK and Webcam have been shown to actually decrease your RWHP. I think there has to be better options out there to get more juice from the Rubicon.

thanks, I think I might do the top end and was just wondering if I should do it while I'm there or not.

Not really looking for big gains or to make a racer out of it but if it was a lagitimate gain I sure would consider it.

rubi your rubicon has over 16,000 miles on it . after that many miles you would have to rebuild the low end if you put a bbk in it . also wile your in there you mideaswell get a new hondamatic for it ......IMO just run it

The hotcam is more for low end - mid range power. At about $150-200 it's worth the investment if your going in anyway.

It's barely broke in, this would all be under "maint"

Doug swears that when he's behind me and I'm in low range wide open throttle churning through the snow or something he can smell my Rubicon burning oil. He can't see any but he says he can smell it.

I would have to guess maybe theres a little wear in there somewhere.

That would be what I would be most interested in.

Being an OHV engine I rather pick any more power on the lower end.

not enough to think there's a problem

I'm thinking it's time to fix a lot of things and a top end was one of them while it's tore apart.
