Default 03 Rubi 500 Shifting problems

Hi guys I'm new to the sight here and after looking through the forums I couldn't find anyone with the same problem as me but they all sort of got the same answers back and I will try try them like clean all connectors and stuff.
When I put my bike in reverse and back up everything is ok but once I put it in drive I get error lights flashing on the dash at a consistent flashing and won't come out of first gear. It's doesn't flash 5 times, stop and repeat to get a code. I can shut off the bike and start it again and it will be fine but just don't trust it to go on a long trip. My battery is fine and checked the connections around it. Any ideas? Anything will help

I'm pretty sure I tried switching the D1 D2 and esp and it still wouldn't come out of first gear. I'm working offshore right now for a few more weeks so i can't try anything just yet but thanks for the replies.

Your getting problem code 5 (5 flashes)? If so that is the angle sensor system and a good place to start testing stuff.

Welcome to the forum.
