Default 02, trx500fa, 500 rubicon

does anyone know the correct voltage for a 02, rubicon? I had my Garmin GPS plugged into my accessory outlet yesterday and fried it. I am averaging 14.6 V at idle speed. Thinking the voltage reguator / rectifier is gone. I also have to replace the angle sensor every year, thinking this may be the problem. Any suggestions would be greatlt appreciated>

this is at the plug with the bike running. If I turn it off I'm down to around 12.6v. While running, if I turn on the head lights and handle bar heaters i get down to approx 13.7v.

Do you think this also why I have to keep replacibg angle sensors? Will excess voltage also fry them?

I would check your battery cables and all the chassis grounds and the accessory plug itself. It could have been your GPS too.

The correct charging voltage at normal operating temperature with a known good battery fully charged is less than 15.5v @ 5000 rpm with the high beam head lights turned on.

Just took another look. With key on, only, I am getting 12.14v, at regular idle 14.89-14.95V. At a fast idle (sorry not tach) 14.6V. I am thinking I need a new regulator / recifier as well.
Thanks for your imput

Not much info in the manual, just speaks about voltage leaks.

The voltage readings don't indicate that there are any charging problems, I got my info from my factory Honda repair manual.

I would for sure check all the grounds. I would have to think if the charging system was over charging to the point of ruining accessories that it would also be hard on light bulbs and you would possibly be able to smell the battery. I would find something else to plug in like a cheap spot light and see what happens.

If you start guessing when replacing parts always start with the cheapest one first.
