Default Unknown wire?

I replaced the battery on my 2004 Rubicon today. When putting the new battery in, I noticed a yellow wire coming out along the frame behind the air box. It doesn't go anywhere, but it's stripped at the end like it should/did go somewhere. Does anyone know what this wire is for and where it should go?

I have an '04 Rubicon and don't see that wire in the battery box anywhere. Thinking it was an add on for something...

It's got a very small cycle country electric winch on it for a snow plow. Maybe that's what it is for. I'll check to see if the winch works tommorow.

Put the plow on the rubicon tonight since we are expected to get 2-5 inches of snow. The winch does not work. Tried putting the unknown yellow wire to the positive and negative on the batter. It made a noise when I touched the positive, but not on the negative. It had to have came from the battery or the fuse box back there.

Is that an extra add on ground wire I see on the neg post, if it is I would say it goes to the pos. Did you try the winch when you touched it on the pos when it made noise?

ya, the noise it made is kind of hard to explain. Kind of like a clicking noise when I would try to move the snow plow with it touching the positive.

just went out and checked it again. When I touch the yellow wire to the positive battery post, it makes a click under the dashboard area. It does this whether the key is on or off. I'm begining to think it is a factory wire that goes in the bottom of the fuse block back behind the battery.

I don't believe any of the wires come in off that side the main harness is on the right side of the machine and comes in from there.
That gauge wire looks to be aftermarket to me based on what i saw when i ripped down my 02 (04 could be differrent i suppose however i beleive they are VERY similar).

I would trace that back and assume you will find it going up to a relay that feeds the winch. I would have suspected it went to ground by the way the wire is bent however if you have moved it around a lot that could be why.
