I just changed the oil and filter in my Rubicon and the oil level does not make sense? I put in 4-1/2 quarts and it was not between the marks on the stick, yes it was not screwed in so I added some more. So I started it for a minute and let it set for 30 minutes now it shows above the mark, so I removed some. Then let it set overnight. Checked the next day and below the stick.
I know its level is it that sensitive to a few ounces? I am up to almost five quarts now and will have to remove some. |

On the rubicon you need to run it for 5 minutes then shut it off, wait a minute then check it. My Rubi uses around 5 litres of oil per change

the oil should be roughly half way up the flat part on the dipstick the notch on the bottom of the dipstick is just for checking before starting the oil needs to be above this notch to safely start the bike my bike is in an 04 rubi and it takes over five and and half litres don't worry too much about the amount going in as long as it's up to the correct oil level oil cans only carry a rough measurement

Thanks I did all that and then it was good, then checked it after setting overnite and the stick was dry? So, I added some and let it set for 5-min after running and it was too high on the stick. So, I drained some. I guess it all settles and if you dont check after running it gives you a false readinig.
