Gauntlet gave great guidance on what to check for....same things I had to go through with limited knowledge after being screwed on my 1st ATV purchase. Your location will make a big difference in the price, but I'd try to go a little lower for stock. And since it's closer to hunting season they know people are looking. I saw postings for stock or less options that costed more than what I ended up getting with goodies. Good luck!! Hope that helps put some perspective but I'd be going lower than the $3600.....start at $3K and work your way up if that's what you're really willing to pay.

I see them on CL for 3400-4200 so i would think with that few miles would not be a bad buy. I would try to jew them cash talks.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked it over an did not find any real issues with the machine at all. All the rubber looked clean as a whistle. The tires looked brand new as expected. Hardly a scratch on it. As it turns out it was an '06 and not an '05. I think I got a good deal at $4100.00. I take possession on Monday and am looking forward to it.
Now I have another questions. Even though the oil was just changed they did not put 5w in it for the coming winter. Since I will be using it this winter for plowing I will need to change the oil out now that fall is upon us in the North Country. I have read around a bit on what oil to use so I do not want to start another fight but can you tell me if I am OK to put Mobil 1 5w-30 in my new ride? Thanks for the advice. |

I use the honda GN4 oil. Ive been wanting to consider something else but I just havent been able to risk it. I dont know about the Mobile 1. You have to compare the oil bottle with the specifications within the owners manual. It cannot be energy conserving which is not compatible with wet clutch use. GN4 has treated me well thus far so I guess Im just gonna stick with it. 3500+ issue free miles.

Your ATV does not need oil additives. Use the recommended oil.Do not use oils with Graphite or Molybdenum additives. They may adversely affect the clutch operation. Do not use API SH or higher oils displaying a cicular API "energy conserving" service label on the container. They may affect lubrication and clutch performance. Do not use non-detergent, vegetable or castor based racing oils.
Thus, GN4 synthetic is what I use..
