I got a 2001 Honda 500 Rubicon I use for land surveying in Wisconsin, all 4 seasons. It carries the stuff I like, and runs over the stuff I don't like.
I'm looking for a set of tries that I can replace my stock ones with. I'd like to keep my stock rims if I could. Wisconsin has a variety of conditions, clay mud, sand, sticks, thorns, brush, rocks (some sharp), and of course, snow - up to 2 feet of it. Snow comes in a lot of different varieties, fluffy, granular, wet and packing, and really none of it is good. It is really the most challenging crap I ride on, and the most difficult to walk through. I do go on some pavement, so wear is a factor, although I'm just wearing out the stock tires. Any place I can take my ATV, I save time. So I want to take it anywhere and everywhere. What you think? |

I don't run in much snow but when I do I lover my 'HORNS'
And they will fit on stock Honda rims I spent a great part of my life in the Midwest and know the conditions your running in so might I suggest going with 26X9X12 front and 26X12X12 rear here are a couple of pictures to show how they fit You'll loose about 3mph on the top end but once you see how it rides and handles you'll love it

anything is better than stock....comments on tires will vary.
bighorns I have heard are good all around. I have Mudlite XL's.....but I go hunting and prefer the bigger lug. Is their a concern on not chewing up property owners lands?.....don;t go to big a lug...especially when turning....

We'll be going out to play in the snow again tomorrow. Through out the group there will be MudBugs, Zillas, MudLites, TSL, Vamps, rawhides, mudwolfs, a few stock tires and the rest depends on who shows up. I prefer my bugs in the snow or all season for that matter. I can not comment on BigHorns since I have never seen them in action. BearClaws are another one in our group but he doesn't go enough to give a good report on them, they do ride smooth though on the hard pack.

They are the small lug vamps I guess is the best way to put it. They have been pretty impressive so far since he got them, he is actually going to run them on my 300 tomorrow so they should be very impressive with the mods done to my bike.
