2004 Rubicon 900 miles runs great. If you are in netural and barely apply the throttle it makes a grinding noise, but if you give it more throttle then it sounds ok. The same also goes when in D (drive) barely give it the throttle and make a grinding noise, but apply more throttle and it quits. It also does it if you are driving down a steep hill very slowly, but once again apply the throttle and is fine. The oil level is fine. Regular mantance is done to the bike. Any suggestions to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. Thanks!

Took my bike to the shop today and they said it was either the one-way bearing or the clutch (weights). Now I have to find the tool needed to pull the clutch. Thankful it's not the tranny. He said the tranny was fine. Now the work begins.

Rocket3T, I had the same issue with mine 2 years ago. Whenever I coasted down hill or slowed to about 8 - 10mph the Rubi would grind. If I kept finger pressure on the throttle while braking it would not grind. After about 3 months of doing this the noise went away. I only use it on weekends at the cabin. I have another 1500 miles on it since this happened with no issues. If the noise is not objectionable put in some good synthetic oil and baby it for awhile. It worked for me. http://www.hondaforeman.com/index.php?showtopic=8791 |

After waiting to get the special tool to pull the clutch I got it fixed. I put a new sprag bearing(oneway) in it and the grinding noise is gone. Alot of work to fix a little part. I like the sound of my bike now. It dosen't drive me crazyto drive it now. Can't wait for the next ride. Thanks for the help!

Ok here is the deal, it has the correct amount of honda oil. I replaced the sprag and fixed my noise. I was doing alot of snow plowing last week and my plow hit a large chunk of ice and stopped me dead in my tracks but it sounded like it popped out of gear and reved real high and when the RPM's came back down it popped back into gear. Now the grinding sound is back! My question is now did the sprag mess up again or is it the clutch(weights)? By the way it drives or rides I really don't think it has to do with the transmission at all. So should I replace the clutch and the sprag? Any help would be great Thanks!
