Default Speed Sensor..

Out for a little ride a little earlier and my speedo dropped to 0 and eventually went into safe mode.. Prolly a speed sensor.. Does anyone have pics of where this is located??.. Thanks

The speed sensor is on the left rear of the engine , you will have to remove the left engine side cover..The wire coupler for it is on the right side just in front of the rear wheel (remove the recoil starter cover) it is a 3p black coupler .. The sensor is a hall effect sensor that monitors the speed (rotations) of the output shaft ..

Thanks a million.. Just what I was looking for..... One more question... Could it just be the coupler??? I was in some deep water just last weekend and maybe it got wet??

Yes I would first clean/grease the coupler ..

It was the speed sensor connector... I unplugged it and it was full of water... a little canned air and di-electric grease later and it works perfect... Thanks again Honda Mechanic

Well.. got into some mud today and it happend again.. went to 0 then to limp mode.. took the coupler apart again and regreased it but nothing.. so where would i find a new sensor and roughly how much?
