Default Best Rubicon Oils?

Hi,

I have been using the Honda oil from the dealer, anyone had better luck with another type of oil? I use my Rubicon for a lot of work around the farm (pulling harrows and such), some pleasure riding using involving beer. I have about 300 miles on mine now, half of which has been in low range pulling.

thanks for any post!

QUOTE ("CDNTRAILEDITION":1e6a87sh)I use the Amsoil and I haven't had a problem with it. I don't know if it sounds better because you spent more but it honestly does sound better on cold startups with it. Amsoil synthetic that is...

Default Oils

Yeah I have heard of people liking the Ams oil, my grandpa swears by it in all his mowers and such, he's also a big nascar guy. Doesn't Honda make a higher end oil thats purple or blue?

thanks,

I think my friend puts normal car motor oil in his Arctic Cat.
Would this do any harm at all to the engine, its still 10w40

Good read... we may not have motorcylces, but its the same idea. I'd still rather use specific atv oil just for reassurance. Call me a sucker, but atleast I know I'm not going to have a problem... if there would be one.

Hmm... I see.

True, i would rather use specific as well.

He just got a new KX250F and he drowned it in the creek. Haha. We changed the oil and he took out normal Canadian Tire 10w40, I questioned him about it, but he said it was right oil, and was fine.

Also, 10w40 is really bad for starting, my bike will idle for around 5 seconds cold and will quit, then i will have to use the choke. It is summer too, it will be in my shop (its nice and cool in there in the summer) and it will do that, after its warmed up, a touch of the button will start it.
