on mine i had to sand down the shifter rod that sticks out cause it was catching on that. After i sanded it and put grease on it i used a rubber mallet and worked the cover off.
Sorry for the late response. It was just as fatboy68 said. Sanded the shifter rod and it came right off. Now I'm having trouble getting the centrifical clutch off.
I use an impact on the clutch nut and then a 3 jaw puller with an impact wrench to pop the clutch off.
On one Foreman the clutch was really stuck and the puller kept slipping off, so I used two big hose clamps (used to hold the solenoid housing on a Warn 8274 winch motor) together to hold the puller arms onto the clutch.
