last year my wife rode a friends Can Am and was going on and on about the cush ride and automatic. Not sure if I want to do it but thinking about selling her very clean Honda 300 she's had for 10 years and getting her a 2013 Rancher 420 with independent suspension, esp and auto tranny and power steering....just hard to part with that 300.
How do you owners of the 420 like your machines? Any negatives or positives you want to share? Selling my 02' Foreman and her 300 will get me close to the purchase have purchase price.

a few years ago, my brother had a 420, auto, esp, independant suspension, power steering, swamp lites, just loaded up... im 6'5" 245, it was just a little small for me, but it road awesome, plenty of power and just a really good machine.... for a woman, it would fit perfect....
he wanted to get rid of it, and all i had to do was take over payments, he owed about 4300 on it... had 200 miles and i put most of those on it...it was worth over 6000.... im still kickin myself in the a$$ for not getting that... but i dont think i would get rid of the 300 tho....keep it and get the 420...

So your going from having a quad for each of you to one for the both? I personaly dont own a rancher but have a few friends that love them, the fuel injector ranchers are the biggest plus that Ive noticed while riding them. Im really thinking about selling my sons recon to get a rancher. Not much help I know. LOL

Actually I have an 02' Foreman with all the mods I've done to it over the years with approx 4000 miles on it and also a backup 03' Foreman with a little over 400 miles on the odometer. All the mods are coming off the 02' and going on the 03'.......selling the 02' and downsizing to just the one Foreman as mine.
Id like to keep the 300 too but need to learn to let things go as it just gets out of hand with available space and although she loves her 300 I know the cush and frills of the 420 would be a nicer ride for her....me? Id keep riding the 300.

Get her the Rancher. I rode one this fall while tracking a deer and really liked it. My wife rides the Rincon and I get the 450. We'll be selling the 450 and getting another Rincon/Rubicon or possibly even a Rancher maybe this summer.

We have three of the IR Ranchers. They are good machines. Had one problem with one of them...but that was mice chewing the wiring harness on the 2010 so not the wheelers fault. They do ride nicer than a solid axle but not near as nice as a canned ham, po po, or Yamaha. I actually prefer the ride of the Rancher because it's more responsive than the softer machines. To me they feel all flobbery and weird, dive in corners, and almost out of control over the rough compared to the firmer Hondas.

Sounds like the new Rancher has good feedback. I'll check em out closer when I get a chance, after adding the 2013 6x6 to my stable Im feeling a little guilty about her older ride. Id take the 25" 589's off her 300 before selling and add em to the Rancher for her.
Thanks for the feedback fellas.

For what its worth I just got my 420 on Christmas but so far so good. I've been in out in mostly snow probably 6-8 inches or deeper somewhat packed and I've had no problems. Mine is the EFI and has a manual transmission the TRX420FM. Its a manageable machine and simple and has that Honda reliability I like. I probably only have about 5 to 10 hours on it so far though. Used to ride my Dad's Susuki King Quad 400 and I like the Rancher better.

U gotta remember the Honda 300 was the most bullet proof quad Honda has ever made. My friend has one from 98' and his brother brought it to mud fest countless times and he "austined" it, cause he can break any quad ever made, the axle has broken several times it's been sunk in mud about 15 times and it works just as good as it did 15 yrs ago. It starts up in .18 of a second and runs amazing. But the rancher is just as good mine has gotten me through thick and thin and keeps coming back for more
