Default 2001 Rancher 350 tapping niose. NEED HELP!!!

I have a Rancher 350 that has a tapping noise comming from the end that I can't seem to locate the sorce. Heres a quick run down of what happened. To start with we got water in the oil(another long story) and it started smoking so I pulled the top end, had it bored and put new piston and rings in. After that the cam chain started making noise so I pulled the engine and put a new chain, tensioner and guide in it. While I had the engine out I took the front cover off as well and cleaned as much crap out as I could to ensure there was no more water in it. The noise sounds like the valves are out of adjustment but I have checked the twice and the are dead on. It's a little louder when the engine is cold. The bike runs great otherwise and of course I have it sold but I can't let I go making a noise like this. Sorry for the lengthy post but it's been a long battle. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

if your selling it, put some lucas oil stabilizer in the motor. that'll make you sleep good at night.

I've always adjusted them at .006 and never had a problem. The noise appears to be lower in the motor.

when you did the rings and new piston how did the new piston pin fit in the old conecting rod ? with a piston pin knock you will hear it more at idle then at rpm
