Default New Tire Time!

Well after about 1 1/2 years, and 6,500 KM it's soon time to replace those bauld stock tires on my 2009 Rancher 420. Although, I don't know what kind of tire to get. Hopefully you guys will be able to help me out. I won't be doing any extreme mudding of some sort. I use my ATV for general trail riding. And seaming that ATV are the only eay of getting around in my town, it's a big deal for me. Rural Newfoundland rocks huh? So all in all, I'm looking for a good, general all-purpose tire that will do good in all conditions. (Trail riding, snow, etc.) I thinking about the ITP, Mud Lite AT, but I'm looking for an experts opinion. Any suggestions?

The BearClaw is much better of a tire than the ML. There are many more out there that would be great for the conditions you stated but the big question is what tire is available for you there without outrageous shipping charges?

i'd choose the bearclaw over a mudlite any day.

in fact, i'd run just a wheel before i ever put mudlites on one of my bikes again

I do know that Bear Claws are readily available up here in Canada Ranch420. Even Crappy Tire sells them. I have run them lots, and they are tough, and good over a wide variety of terrain. I too, share the dislike of Mudlites around here. For what you describe, I also know a few guys who like Dirt Devils much more than Mudlites as well. Mud Bugs would also work for you. I like them here more for the snow. I don't get in a lot of mud if I can help it, though it happens.

The other option is go to your dealer next time you get to town and ask for a set of take-offs for your machine if you were okay with the stock tires' performance.

Thanks for the feed back guys, I'll certinaly look up the tires that you guys have listed. Luckly, 1 ATV here has Dirt Devils on it, and 1 ATV has Bearclaws on it. So I guess im in luck. Ill just ask the guys about how ther feel about those tires. As for the mudlights, I'm not really a fan of them either, I only listed that beacuse at least 5 quads here have them on. (All hondas BTW). I've also noticed that they really don't last that long anyway. I just need a good tire for riding back and fourth to work lol. Well, the next time I get to my dealer (20 minute ferry ride then ~ 250KM drive) I ask what they have in stock and what they suggest.

The Maxxis BigHorn tires are probably the most recommended tire there is. It is a 6 ply radial and rides and handles very nicely. It has an incredible tread that works very well on all terrain (mud, dirt, sand, rocks, and snow!). And, it's not uncommon to get 10,000 miles out of them. The best price on them comes from www.rockymountainatvmc.com
