Default Newbie here with a newbie question.

Thanks for hanging in there with me as I try to learn a bit more.

Looking at a 2005 350 rancher that's online and more than an hour away.
I asked about the hours and mileage and the seller tells me this year and model rancher does not have an odometer so he could not give me an answer. Seems a bit odd but like I said i'm an idiot on these machines.

Help on the facts on this issue would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
B

Must be a foot shift, the es model has an odo and hour meter. I just bought an 05 Rancher 2wd ES. Welcome to the forums!

welcome brad, i own a 2006 rancher 350TM, its a foot shift, it has no odometer hours speed or anything, so it is 100% accurate. the man is not telling you anything false

i think only the electric shifts had displays. i always wondered if mileage and hours could be retrieved from the ecm/ecu by the dealership on manual shift models. my uncle has a manual shift 06 rancher with very few hours/miles. it only gets used to move one of his 3 boats around the yard. probably less than 75 miles on it. he's had the carb rebuilt by the dealership 3 times because he doesn't run it like he should.

welcome to the forum from utah.

if you've seen the machine and its not beat to he!! and the price is right then go for it.

check the front end for play i.e.; ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rod ends.
check the air box, oil and look it over good for signs that its been in deep water.

note the kind of tires that are on it. if there mud tires, its probably seen its fair share of mud.

look at the skid plates. see how hard its been beat on the undercarriage.

look for signs of abuse anywhere you can.

to the fourm! I would look at it vary close like ss said bring a camra and take some pics and post it we can help you haggle on price! Is it a 4x4 or 2wd? The rancher that are footshift they dont have odomiters but the es models do. The 05 and up foremans have odomiters and hr meters with either a footshift or es. Good luck!
