As the title states I have a 2007 Honda 420 TE and just yesterday in 4th gear the transmission seems to kick out of gear and make a chattering noise. I have checked the clutch adjustment (although I didn't think it would make a difference) and it has had no effect. I just finished paying to get the top end rebuilt last winter and now from the initial research I've done it looks like the case will have to be split.
If anyone has experience with this or has any insight as to what the problem could be please let me know. I'm leaning towards Worn or chipped dog teeth. Last edited by JDF; 07-04-2011 at 10:44 AM. |

to the forum....That's what it sounds like. Either way, to know for sure, you'll have to open the case up. Sounds alot more serious than a clutch out of adjustment. Good luck.

That's what it looks like. I was hoping to hear otherwise from someone that it wasn't as big of a problem as to what I thought. Didn't want to go tearing the motor down again especially with summer finally here.
I figure with the noise it makes it's probably not a good idea to use the atv at all until it is fixed :P |

You got it fixed. If you dont wanna do it, send it to the shop and 24 beers later.... It's fixed....
