Default Clutch help????

I have a 2000 Rancher. When left in gear, with the engine off, it still rolls. I have also had some "cluncking" noises. And occasionally when I shut the engine off I have a "winding down" noise and then a clunck. Also once or twice it has freewheeled going down hill when I tap the gas it grabs again. Everything I have read leads me to believe it is the one-way clutch bearing. I have pulled the clutch and according to the book, I should be able to turn the clutches counter-clock wise and not clock wise, if I can turn clock wise the bearing is bad. So when I took it apart I expected to turn it both ways, but I was only able to turn it counter-clockwise, telling me it was fine. When I inspected the bearing it looked good except for the spring around the outside, it did have a couple spots where it was stretched and kinked. I am going to replace it anyway, as well as probly put a new clutch in it, but just want to know if there is anything else I should look for. I didn't know if it is possible that the bearing would turn with the weight of the quad, and not by hand. Sorry this is so long, but wanted to get as much info out there as I could. Just don't want to put it all back together and try it and have to take it back apart for something simple. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated.

I think you have it figured out. It's doing just that, turning under pressure that you can not produce by hand.

Yep, I agree, replace the one-way clutch bearing. Checking them by turning them like the manual states isn't an accurate check. I've seen lots and lots of them that wouldn't work right in the engine, but would still lock in one direction when turning by hand.

Cool, thanks for the response and reafirmming what I thought. Now next question. Where is the best place to buy one? I think the cheapest I have seen is $106, it is what it is, but just would like to see if I can find it a little cheaper. Would like to save a little money toward putting disc brakes on the front.
